What is the "Extraction Genre" and Why is it Awesome?

This is an excuse for me to go off at length about a topic I've been quite interested in recently -- the extraction genre of video games (sometimes erroneously called "extraction shooters"), an up-and-coming genre that has attracted a lot of interest and interesting releases in the last year or so.

This session will include an explanation of what the genre is, why I think it's cool, and recommendations for games people might enjoy!
