Is there something inherently improbable about conspiracy theories? Why do they seem so interesting, so silly and yet also so hard to refute? This talk will be a deep dive into what conspiracy theories are, why their poor reputation is deserved, and why common arguments that we should assess individual conspiracy theories on their individual merits fail. I gave this talk at LessOnline and people seemed to think it was both correct and informative.
